Happy Sunday, sweet friends! Sorry I was absent last week, but I really appreciate y’all for checking up on me! Everything is great, just completely INSANE right now!!! Let’s back up just a bit so I can catch you up to speed. In a nutshell, last week we found out we’re moving…ahem, RELOCATING…to Houston and we’ve been furiously cleaning our house and getting it ready to put it on the market TOMORROW!!!!!!!! Ohmiword. This has all transpired in a week’s time so to say I’m overwhelmed would be an understatement. Mr. Spouse got a job a little northeast{ish} of Houston and accepted immediately…he’s SO … [Read more...] about Gettin' My Sunday On

Happy Earth Day!
Happy Earth Day, sweet friends! Have y’all been out planting trees today, or what?! Well…I haven’t, but I did enjoy an afternoon listening to beach-y music outside on the deck. What a perfect day to celebrate our beautiful Earth! Speaking of celebrations, we celebrated Earth Day as a class on Friday. First off, we talked all about the different ways we can work together…and by ourselves…to make a positive impact in our environment. After all, WE’VE got the WHOLE world in our hands! It takes a lot of people doing a lot of little things to make big changes in the world! After we made a little “rough … [Read more...] about Happy Earth Day!
A Quick Share
Alright ladies…and gentlemen {are you out there?!?!}…I’m gonna share a little something real quick because this little momma isn’t feelin’ so hot. BOO. Sore throat…chills…and a bit of a throbbing headache. Don’t ask me why I’m on the computer. My kids have been hard at work this week. They definitely have spring fever, but they’ve been working SO hard! PTL! We made these cute little Compound Cooks this week. They crack me RIGHT.UP. I had the kids make little cookies. Each cookie was labeled with a compound word of their choice. Then we put them on a baking sheet & put them … [Read more...] about A Quick Share
Compound Cooks
Ummm…how many of y’all were able to take full advantage of Sonic’s ALL DAY Happy Hour today?!?! Me! Me! Me! Actually, one of the sweet girls on our team made a Sonic run for us early this morning and then I got a follow-up drink later on when one of my sweet mom’s surprised me with a drink!! Needless to say, it was a great day! I was a very happy, very CAFFEINATED teacher! What goes better with caffeine than food?!?! Today we were all COOKS! Compound Cooks, that is. {If you can’t tell by now, my mind is ALWAYS on food! HA!} Seriously though. I’ve introduced compound words … [Read more...] about Compound Cooks

Breakin’ the Rules {& Some Plant Stuff}
I know I’m breakin’ all sorts of rules by posting twice in one day, but in my defense, I *technically* posted around midnight{ish}. I'd still consider that *yesterday* :) I was up with a sick little boy and sleeping wasn’t an option. Isn’t it hard to get back in a groove after a holiday weekend?!?! Okay, well, it is for me. I’m a little slow moving that first day back…even if it was only a 3 day weekend. I threw myself into the fire today and really tried to get back in the groove first thing this morning. We’re learning all about plants this week, so I started the day with a little composing … [Read more...] about Breakin’ the Rules {& Some Plant Stuff}
My Week in Review
Happy Easter, peeps! Our pastor said it best… “Easter is the definitive moment in God’s love story with humanity.” Oh.my.word. I’ve never heard it put that way, but I was in LOVE. SO true! Hope y’all had a blessed day!! We spent ours with my in-laws who are in town visiting from Indiana. Such a fun weekend! Speaking of peeps, we celebrated little mister’s birthday on Friday and I gave all the kids these fun little peeps {Pinterest inspired, thank you Eighteen25!!}. Sunday Funday & the OW/OU Kids
Does anyone else love Sunday as much as I do?!?! I know I have to go to work tomorrow and all, but I LOVE Sundays. We always sleep in and then head to the 11:00 service at church. I’m always moved to tears at EVERY.SINGLE.SERVICE. The boys love church just as much…if not more…than I do, so that definitely makes this little momma all kinds of happy. After church, we always go to lunch. Since my oldest has a bit of a picky palette, we typically head to our favorite little pizza place, Grimaldi’s. SO yum. Then it’s back home to lounge around and spend the day playing…or in my case, on & off … [Read more...] about Sunday Funday & the OW/OU Kids
Follow the Yellow Brick Road Retelling
I’m back today to report to you that I DID NOT have to suck it up and eat the larva for snack today. And…PTL…I remembered my math & literacy stations AND I got a full 7 hours sleep…minus 30 minutes here and there thanks to a cover hogging husband :) Yes friends, today was MUCH better than yesterday…well, except for having to control the LOUDNESS that is my classroom while our 4th graders took the STARR test today. Bless their hearts. This week we’re working on retelling. I feel like EVERY teacher does a pretty stinkin’ great job at driving home this concept. I’m pretty sure we’re constantly asking questions … [Read more...] about Follow the Yellow Brick Road Retelling
One of THOSE Days…
Today was one of THOSE days. Not in a terribly bad way…just one of those days. I’m sure you’ve had ‘em, too! We were up ‘til about 3am this morning with my sweet Landon. I’m SURE he had an allergy induced asthma attack. He hasn’t exactly been diagnosed with asthma…the doctor blew me off when I mentioned it…but my mommy intuition is 100% certain that he has it. When Mr. Spouse gets scared, that’s when I know it’s serious. And it was. My little man was up ‘til all hours of the night…coughing & wheezing something awful fierce…and having trouble breathing in between the crazy fits of coughing. … [Read more...] about One of THOSE Days…
A Day Fit for a Foodie
If you know me well, you know I’m a foodie. NOT a food snob at all...I’ll eat ANTYHING. Especially if it’s deep fried and made with butter :) But I’m definitely a foodie!! Today’s activities were focused all around a couple of my favorites…pizza and cinnamon rolls!!! Both terribly fattening and unhealthy, but that’s not the point of this post :) Before we started our math tubs today, we did a whole group fraction activity. I set out 4 pizza boxes on different tables and handed out recording sheets and clipboards. The objective of this activity was to get the kids to count the number of slices … [Read more...] about A Day Fit for a Foodie
Post Spring Break Craftivity
Spring Break gave me just the taste of summer I needed…or maybe not :) It’s never as long as I wish it were and I missed my boys terribly today!!! However, it’s pretty nice being back in a routine! We ALL needed that for sure! So, we hit the ground running today. We’ve got TONS to do this week!! We’ll be working on synonyms & antonyms this week, so this little guy right here will be making another appearance…I LOVED this activity last year! We’re working on /ai/ and /ay/ words for spelling this week. We brainstormed a list of words for both and then I had the kids practice writing their /ai/ … [Read more...] about Post Spring Break Craftivity
Camping Capers, Open House, “Sadsville”, & Spring Break
Maybe I should’ve just titled this post “Longest Post Ever”, because that’s pretty much what it’s gonna be. You can abandon reading now and I swear I wouldn’t blame you! HA!. First of all, I just want to say “thank you” to all of you who emailed to make sure I’m okay! I know I haven’t posted in a while, but y’all…it’s been a rough week. First of all, getting ready for Open House was consuming all of my free time. Aside from the fun school stuff, my sweet first baby…our pug, Griffin…was put to sleep last Friday. As my sweet friend, Michelle, would say, our family has been living in “Sadsville” since last … [Read more...] about Camping Capers, Open House, “Sadsville”, & Spring Break
Hoppy Leap Day!
Hoppy Leap Day, sweet friends! Today was a CUH-razy day! Did anyone else feel like that?! I know I can’t be the only one :) We started out our day with a little Leap Day calendar fun and the kids couldn’t wait to learn more about our special day. Since Leap Day is sorta synonymous with frogs, we incorporated lots of frog type activities into our day which is sorta perfect considering we’re right in the midst of our camping theme! We learned some fun little facts about Leap Day from a few different websites and I kept up this anchor{ish} chart throughout the day so that the kids would have a resource to … [Read more...] about Hoppy Leap Day!

Meeting Two of My Favorites :)
A few weeks ago, sweet Diane from Made for 1st Grade emailed me to say she & Kelly would be visiting my old stomping grounds…Denton…for a weekend full of softball games and wanted to know if I’d want to meet up for lunch. A chance to meet two of my teaching heroes?! Of course, I was all over it! I couldn’t wait!! We met at my favorite little restaurant and spent several hours talking a million miles a minute…they are amazing!!! And just as sweet as could be!!! After lunch, the girls let me tag-a-long with them to go shopping. While we were out, we texted Abby to let her know we found this cute … [Read more...] about Meeting Two of My Favorites :)
They Like Me! They Really Do!
My {school} kids, that is. Well, most of them do anyway. 17 out of 23 to be exact. We had a mock election today and the votes were tallied…Mrs. Carroll by a landslide :) This week we learned about our country & state and threw in some fun activities from my little Pint-Sized Presidential Fun Unit. The kids had a blast! We read these books….one a day…and filled out some fun little graphic organizers. The kids got to choose one of the characters from each book…Grace, Duck, or {ahem} Mrs. Carroll, y’know, from My Teacher for President :) …to campaign for. We made little campaign posters and … [Read more...] about They Like Me! They Really Do!
After the Sugar High Sets In…
I hosted a little Valentine playgroup party at our house on Monday. My oldest is part of the sweetest little playgroup...8 boys...ALL the EXACT.SAME.AGE!!!!! Their mommas are some of my favorite people in the world!!! Love them!! There were about 12 kids under the age of 4 running around my house that night. We consumed way too much sugar, played our little hearts out, and made these PRECIOUS Valentine bags courtesy of The Teacher Wife. If you don't have her Valentine unit, you MUST!!! It's darling...even for the littles!!! My boys handed out these Valentines {thank God for Pinterest ;)} … [Read more...] about After the Sugar High Sets In…
What Happened to Mrs. Carroll? And a Few Other Things…
I took a personal day on Monday. I hadn't seen my sweet family since mid-December, so I took my boys home for an extra long weekend. Mr. Spouse had to work. Boo. While I was out, I had my kids write about what they thought happened to me. I didn't tell them where I was going or what I was doing, so it was hilarious to read their responses when I got back!! One of my sweeties said that I was spending the day shopping with my sister, Mrs. Cortez. Mrs. Cortez is a precious 6th grade teacher. We are NOT sisters, but we *might* have told the kids that we are :) We get told we look alike … [Read more...] about What Happened to Mrs. Carroll? And a Few Other Things…

Love, Splat. Black History Month. And a Giveaway
Hey sweet friends! Happy Saturday! Okay, so maybe notsomuch on the *happy* for me. The screen on my laptop decided to die, so I spent the morning taking her to get fixed only to learn that she needs to be sent off to be repaired! Shoo! I'm taking this as God's way of telling me to take a break from the computer, so my blogging and commenting will be very minimal the next few weeks. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out a way to upload several new units I've been working on...just a few little goodies for February. My newest little mini unit...Love, Splat...was just added to my TpT shop in … [Read more...] about Love, Splat. Black History Month. And a Giveaway

Sarah left me a comment the other day directing me to this absolutely DARLING activity she did for alliteration. We didn’t have the book Ten in a Sled, but I loved the idea of using verbs with alliteration. So…while I’m waiting for my copy of Ten in a Sled, I decided to do a little whole group shared writing activity with the class. We made two word alliteration sentences using nouns & verbs. This … [Read more...] about Praise Jesus! And a Little More Alliteration
