With President's Day behind us, I figured it would be a great time to take a walk down memory lane to look back in time to what went on in my classroom this time of year. President's Day has always coincided with our study on coins. These bubble maps focusing on both the coins and their attributes really tied in nicely with these concepts! A Little Recap. That’s All.
I know many of y'all are on Spring Break, but I am not. In fact, I think I need ANOTHER week off. We are just getting back in the swing of things after an ever so glorious, albeit way too busy, Spring Break. {tear, sniff}. I can smell Summer just around the corner and the fragrance is OH so sweet. Sweet, sweet summa-time. They Like Me! They Really Do!
My {school} kids, that is. Well, most of them do anyway. 17 out of 23 to be exact. We had a mock election today and the votes were tallied…Mrs. Carroll by a landslide :) This week we learned about our country & state and threw in some fun activities from my little Pint-Sized Presidential Fun Unit. The kids had a blast! We read these books….one a day…and filled out some fun little graphic organizers. The kids got to choose one of the characters from each book…Grace, Duck, or {ahem} Mrs. Carroll, y’know, from My Teacher for President :) …to campaign for. Open House – Traveling Through America
As for Open House, we’re all *12 kinds of* crazy tryin’ to get things together. Y’all…I gotta say…things are lookin’ DANG cute! My school is nothing short of amazing and the entire place just transforms into such a sight! Since we’re studying American symbols & Presidents in our curriculum, First Grade decided to go with a patriotic theme for our hallways & classroom this year. Just think, “Traveling through America”.
