Since weāre on DAY 4 of NO SCHOOl, Iāve been surfing around some of my favorite blogs and have found some darling Valentine ideas! Place Value, MLK, and Snowmen!

Mitten Loads of Fun!
We hit the ground running the first week back from break and it was so nice to be back in a routine. We did a lot of mitten themed activities and the kids loved it! Hope you enjoy them, too!!Of course, we started the week reading The Mitten, by Jan Brett. There was SO much to do with this book!! Winter Math Games

Happy Grinch Day, friends!! Hereās my sweet team all decked out in our Grinch Day duds.Ā We celebrated āGrinch Dayā today and the kids got in on all the fun, too!!Ā They came dressed in green and some of our little cuties even painted their faces and sported Cindy Louās hairstyle.Ā TOO cute! One of my favorite holiday books⦠And thereās SO much you can do with it!Ā We had a little āIf You Take A Mouse To The Moviesā day the other day and the kids had so much fun!!Ā Of course, we started out reading the book.Ā After reading, we talked about cause & effect and made a diagram to show the chain of reaction. Gingerbread & Christmas Stuff
Okayā¦still SO behindā¦but here are just a couple of things weāve been working on!Ā Weāre still going strong with fact families, so I had my kids make fact family gifts. Today we celebrated āMayflower Dayā!!Ā Okayā¦so I made that upā¦but I thought that sounded pretty fitting for our day today :)Ā We started by reading a non-fiction book about the Mayflower.Ā I canāt remember which one, but I checked it out from our school library and it was really good!!Ā It was a great book to review Table of Contents also :)Ā Each āchapterā was only a page or two long.Ā After each page, we stopped to jot.Ā During our stop to jot time, the kids gave me a few facts they learned from that chapter. A Few More Math Ideas Before The Holidays
Here are a couple more ideas for you to *squeeze in* {HA!!!} before Thanksgiving break :) How funky is your turkey?! Hereās a little fact family activity your kids will love! Each kiddo gets a half circle {turkey body} and a triangle {turkey head}. The kids take two dice and roll. Letās say they roll a 4 & 2. They have to add the numbers together to get the sum {third #}. They write these numbers in each corner of the turkey head with the sum sitting in the beak. Candy Corn Math
This week I set out a little candy corn math activity for my kids to use in their stations. Because I have such a sweet tooth, I ate the whole bag of candy corn, so the kids had to settle on the laminated cardstock version instead ;) Each candy corn is programmed with either an addition or subtraction problem. I cut off the bottom {yellow} portion of the candy corn and left the rest intact. The kids have to match the bottom {sum/difference} to the top {number sentence}. Stellaluna Fun!
We had SO much fun learning about bats last week!Ā My kids are really into non-fiction this year and LOVE āfact gatheringā.Ā Kinda precious if you ask me ;)Ā At the beginning of the week, we read Stellaluna & followed up the story with a Bats vs. Birds Venn Diagram and a story map.Ā My kids are really into story maps this year, too!Ā And I love having a visual to organize our thoughts.Ā Since there were a lot of little problems and characters in Stellaluna, this was the perfect time to talk about main character & main problem.Ā We starred those on the story map to remember the difference!
