I spent 15 years in the classroom (grades K-2) before transitioning to my current role as an educational consultant & TpT author. I started my teaching career in Kindergarten where I spent 12 wonderful years and then moved up to 2nd grade in a brand new school. I spent the following two years teaching first grade and fell in love with everything about it…the curriculum, the content, the creativity, and most of all, the kids. In short, there was nothing I didn’t love about my 15 years in the primary classroom(s)!
In my current role as an educational consultant, I love helping teachers whether it be through meaningful & engaging professional development, mentoring, one-on-one consulting, or even just an encouraging smile and a pat on the back. I’m an advocate for teacher & student growth and development and truly believe we’re all in this together!
I am passionate about creating hands-on & engaging activities for the classroom. I believe that learning should be full of content, meaning, & rigor yet creative and FUN at the same time. Yes, learning can (and should!!!) be fun!!! I love providing teachers with ideas to create learning opportunities that allow them to enrich their students’ understanding & create memorable experiences that establish meaningful connections across the curriculum. Never underestimate the value of highly engaging material coupled with strong instruction. Just because it’s cute doesn’t mean there’s no substance! 🙂
When I’m not designing curriculum & working with teachers, I’m busy being mom to my two not-so-little boys who pretty much keep me laughing non-stop! My boys will be starting 4th and 3rd grade(s) in August and I love seeing the world…and everything they’re absorbing…through their elementary lenses. They are my greatest blessing and have completely changed who I am as an educator, consultant, and person in general 🙂
