These last few weeks have been moving in fast forward, so it’s time to stop down and rewind just a bit :) To sum it all up, we learned about apples, made applesauce, learned about all things moon, and know more about spiders and arachnids than we ever cared to know. My student teacher started on Tuesday and I love her big. She was observing in my room 2 days a week during the Spring, so I’m SUPER excited to have her back. She’s a natural, so that makes me happy. And, she’s the most helpful, sweetest person EVER. In a year where I’m facing more classroom challenges than ever before, I’m feeling SO very … [Read more...] about Rewind.

First stop tonight, sweet Alessia from Mrs. Albanese’s Kindergarten Class. Alessia has been a Kindergarten teacher in Canada for the past 6 years and says she can’t imagine doing anything else! Direction, Position, & Maps
Do y’all remember this oldie?! Sweet little Rosie. Just a walkin’ along, singin’ her song. Leavin’ behind that pesky ol’ fox. We were recently learning about positional & directional words, so we read Rosie’s Walk to review position. And then we did this cute little craftivity to reinforce what we learned. How cute is she?! Pretty dang cute, I think! The kids LOVED her!! I’ve been TERRIBLE…absolutely TERRIBLE…about taking pictures in the classroom this year. I’m gonna echo Abby when I say that this year’s class has been pretty challenging, so I’m left with little time to document our … [Read more...] about Direction, Position, & Maps

Wandering Wednesday
Hey y’all!! Happy Wednesday! Hope y’all are having a great week {so far}. Not many complaints here…except for the visit I had to make to the “girlie” doctor today. Blech. Not my favorite place to be. Now I’m home and enjoying the smell of the beef barbacoa in the crock pot. Truth be told, Mr. Spouse *might* have misunderstood the directions and the meal in the crockpot is a far cry from what I had planned, but I’m crossing my fingers for a fortunate accident!!! In the meantime, let’s start wandering through blogland. I’m excited about the ladies featured tonight because they all exude … [Read more...] about Wandering Wednesday
Teacher Talk
Do you ever feel like your "Teacher Talk" spills over into your home life? Maybe you hear yourself saying things to your husband...or even your own kids or friends...that you don't even realize you're saying?? Mr. Spouse has caught me uttering a few of these phrases around the house and he's quick to remind me to "leave the teacher talk at school". I just can't seem to turn it off!! HA!!! Here's a little sneak peek into what a typical day "sounds" like for me {both at school AND home :)}... "Turn your voice off." "I'll be happy to start when you can show me you're ready!" TGI{almost}F, people! It’s a short week for us…the kids didn’t come back ‘til Wednesday!!…but let me tell you that I’m READY for the weekend!! The only thing I have to get through first is ANOTHER trip to the dentist. My teeth hurt worse now than they did before my cavities were filled a few weeks ago. I can only drink through a straw and can’t bite down on the left side of my mouth without sharp pain shooting through my nerve. NOT.fun. In other news, I got a little surprise package in the mail today and couldn’t wait to share it with y’all because I know you guys will be just as excited as I am!! Lesson Plan Template
Happy Labor Day, y’all!!! The weather here in Texas is nothing short of AMAZING!!! It was sunny, windy, and 74 this morning, so I took my boys to a little “beach” {sand pit, more or less} and we played and drank purple milkshakes in honor of an extra day together!! My oldest, Landon, was all, “Mommy, it’s TOO cold to play outside!!!!” as he shivered and tucked his arms into his shirt. That’s my boy! He’s ALL Texas, for sure!! LOVE IT!!! I have to say, I was pretty dang chilly! I guess after 60+ days of temps over 100, anything less is bound to feel a little cold! HA! While my boys…all 3 … [Read more...] about Lesson Plan Template
The One With Nothing Related To Teaching {Part 2}
Yesterday was supposed to be a normal day. I was supposed to go to school, have a very uneventful day, and then celebrate the happiness that is Friday at a little “pick me up” with my other sweet teacher friends after school. Since I haven’t seen Mr. Spouse ALL week {dang you, football season!!!!}, I snagged a babysitter for Friday night so that we could have a date night {his ONLY free Friday night of the football season}. Well, I should be very familiar with the fact that NOTHING ever goes according to plans! Mr. Spouse called early in the a.m. to let me know my little bit was running a BIG fever. He had to be at … [Read more...] about The One With Nothing Related To Teaching {Part 2}
No David! I’m a Peacemaker!
A few weeks ago, sweet Julie over at Mrs. Lee’s Kindergarten wrote this great little post about Peacemakers & Peacebreakers. Immediately, I was smitten…absolutely IN.LOVE with her idea. In our Social Studies curriculum for the first few weeks of school, we’re supposed to teach the littles about rules, people who make rules, consequences, etc. Julie’s Peacemaker activity was just TOO perfect not to implement!!! We read No David!, David Goes to School, and David Gets in Trouble. Of course, the kids got a giant kick out of the bare bottom picture of David running through the street. They just LOVE … [Read more...] about No David! I’m a Peacemaker!
Writer’s Workshop Anchor Charts
I’ve always been a big fan of writing. I love to see the progress my kids make throughout the year…it’s always so remarkable!! No matter what stage they’re at when I get them, they always grow. Even a *little* growth is A LOT! I was excited to start Writer’s Workshop this week. Even though I love teaching writing, I always feel like this is an area where I can improve. I mapped out this week’s writing plans to a T and so far, we’re off to a great start! My littles were excited to get their draft books on Monday. I had some advanced writers, a few reluctant writers, and everything in … [Read more...] about Writer’s Workshop Anchor Charts
First Week Fun!
Hey sweet friends! We’re on the 2nd week here and ohmiword…exhaustion doesn’t even BEGIN to cover it :) I’m LOVING my class of 21 littles…they’re PRECIOUS. And full of spunk. Our first day was a total BLUR. The only thing I remember is our annual first day flag raising…and that’s only because I have pictures of it! HA! No really, it was hot as sin outside…and it was only 8:30…so that’s a little hard to forget :) This is one of my favorite little school traditions. The school’s namesake comes out to say a few words to everyone….our principal says a few things too…there’s a grade level … [Read more...] about First Week Fun!
Free For All Friday!
Today’s the last day for Teacher Week over at Blog Hoppin’ and today’s theme is freebies!!! Who doesn’t love a good freebie, right?! Here are a few that I featured in some of my classroom pics. I’ve gotten a lot of emails about my “Writer’s Eye” wall. Here are the printables :) I can’t take ANY credit for this idea…I definitely “borrowed” it from Mrs. Phippen after seeing it on Pinterest!!! I just had to have my own little version to fit my classroom theme :) Graphics courtesy of Scrappin’ Doodles Here’s a little “Sorry We Missed You” clip chart to hang outside of your door. I realize that a lot … [Read more...] about Free For All Friday!
I Love You…But Sometimes I Really Don’t Like You At All
Blogger and I have a love/hate relationship. Right now, we’re more on the hate side of things. While Blogger has brought me a daily list of “must reads”, it’s also made it absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for me to comment on those very same blogs. Gosh darnit!!! If you have a blog with a comment box that looks like this…. I can’t comment on your blog :( I found this out the other day when I wrote this super detailed note on Mrs. Tabb’s blog {who I just found via Pinterest…LOVE} and then it bounced me off her blog and gave me this dang pop-up… I had to stalk her on Facebook so that I could leave her a message!! … [Read more...] about I Love You…But Sometimes I Really Don’t Like You At All
Where It All Goes Down…A Little Classroom Tour
Hey y’all! Time for a little “Where it Goes Down Wednesday” action. We’re on day 3 here and let me tell ya…it’s getting easier every dang day! I must have been EXHAUSTED last night because I sure did PASS.OUT in my little bit’s bed as we were saying prayers. Mr. Spouse left me there and I got a really great 3 hour nap before getting up around midnight to head to my own bed :) If you’ve been following my little ol’ blog for a while, you’ll notice that my classroom hasn’t changed much since last year. I redid a few bulletin boards, moved some furniture around, added a kidney table {last year was my first year … [Read more...] about Where It All Goes Down…A Little Classroom Tour
