How many of y'all felt a little shift in the weather this past weekend?! I woke up to a beautifully crisp (what felt like Fall) day and it progressively got hotter as the weekend went on. As they say here in Texas, "if you don't like the weather, just wait 5 minutes." With the change of seasons impending, I couldn't wait to recap some of my favorite apple themed activities for you today and share with you some freebies a new addition to my little shop. One of my favorite things to do with ANY theme is to incorporate it wherever I can in the classroom. The easiest places to incorporate a theme...IMO....are in literacy … [Read more...] about Apple Fun For EVERYONE!

Apples, Apples, EVERYWHERE!
How many of y'all felt a little shift in the weather this past weekend?! Us?! Notsomuch. My Facebook feed was full of friends in other cities and states talking about the gorgeous fall weather & pictures of pumpkin spice lattes, infinity scarves, boots, fires in the fireplace, and weather report screenshots reading temps between 50 & 70. Lucky you. I lie. While I'm looking forward to Fall and all the nostalgia and comfort it encompasses, I don't want the weather to change. I'm a summer girl all the way. Okay, okay. I could do without the 90 degree temps. But I'd love for it … [Read more...] about Apples, Apples, EVERYWHERE!
Apples & Freebies!
Not really sure what it is about apples that I love so much, but dang. I DO. I love them. I'll take them anyway I can get them. I'm kinda like Bubba in Forrest Gump, but instead of being obsessed with shrimp, I'm obsessed with apples. I even have a board dedicated to them... Today we're celebrating July birthdays in the family. Mine included. You know what that means?! All the apple pie I can handle. GET.OUT.RIGHT.NOW!!!!!! So that got me to thinking about apples in the classroom. A thematic staple of mine for the last 13 … [Read more...] about Apples & Freebies!
It’s Tuesday. That’s All.
It’s Tuesday, y’all. Is it too early in the week to say I’m beat? Because I’m {kinda} not lying. I am. But this iced tea is sorta makin’ life better. Especially since I’m drinking it from a mason jar. It’s OCTOBER {AMEN!!!!} and that means we’re starting the month with one of my favorite themes….SPIDERS!!!!!!!!! It’s spider week in Kindergarten and my kids are LOVING what they’re learning about our little arachnid friends. We’re especially loving our spider themed math tubs this week!! You can find these activities in my Cute or Creepy math tub packet. I was out of town this past weekend … [Read more...] about It’s Tuesday. That’s All.
A Peek at My Week! Visual Plans
It’s already Sunday. *Sigh*. Another RAINY Sunday. I’m not complaining about that though. Snuggling up on the couch with a cup of coffe {it’s National Coffee Day, did’ya know?!} and Lifetime…while it’s raining…sounds like the perfect way to spend a Sunday :) I’m pretty sure Mr. Spouse doesn’t feel the same. I’m sure we’ll be off the couch and out the door in no time :) Before I get to my plans, I just wanted to let you know that my October Write the Room packet is posted. I had a few sweet friends email and ask when those would be ready and they’re finally posted. You can check it out by … [Read more...] about A Peek at My Week! Visual Plans
Apples Aplenty & A Meaningful Christmas
Did y’all hear me say Christmas? I’m sure you’re thinking, “Is she for real? CHRISTMAS? It’s not even OCTOBER yet!!” But bear with me. Y’all might remember reading THIS POST last year. I’m telling y’all all about this now so that y’all can get a move on it and start planning. My precious friend Brittney introduced me to our favorite Christmas tradition back when my boys were really itty and now I want to share it with YOU! A Meaningful Christmas is a simple, child centered devotional for families to use as they countdown to Christmas. Honestly…it’s our FAVORITE tradition. It all starts with a … [Read more...] about Apples Aplenty & A Meaningful Christmas
I Know A Fruit That Grows on Trees
Have I mentioned that I have a serious obsession with apples?? I don’t know if you agree with me, but apples always taste better this time of year. I have a board FULL of apple{ish} recipes I pinned and I’m going to *try* to make {at least} half of them. I’ll also be shopping for a new {larger} wardrobe in the process ;) Even though we’re still rockin’ the 80-90 degree temps down here in the south, I’m definitely feeling the Fall weather in my heart ;) My absolute most FAVORITE apple has got to be the {ridiculously expensive} honey crisp. I could eat one every.single.day {if I didn’t think I’d go into … [Read more...] about I Know A Fruit That Grows on Trees
What We’ve Been Up To…
Okay, so what HAVEN’T we been up to?! We stay pretty busy in Kindergarten! So much so that I haven’t been very good about remembering to take any pictures! Boo for me! However, I haven’t forgotten how to write with lots of exclamations!!! ;) A few weeks ago, I saw a DARLING idea on Pencils, Glue, & Tying Shoes {don’tcha just LOVE that name?!?!?} for teaching the 5 senses. I absolutely LOVED her anchor chart, so I wanted to introduce our little unit of study with something pretty similar. Meet Five Senses Frank. It always cracks me up when the kids say they have a sense of “eyes” … [Read more...] about What We’ve Been Up To…
Rewind.
These last few weeks have been moving in fast forward, so it’s time to stop down and rewind just a bit :) To sum it all up, we learned about apples, made applesauce, learned about all things moon, and know more about spiders and arachnids than we ever cared to know. My student teacher started on Tuesday and I love her big. She was observing in my room 2 days a week during the Spring, so I’m SUPER excited to have her back. She’s a natural, so that makes me happy. And, she’s the most helpful, sweetest person EVER. In a year where I’m facing more classroom challenges than ever before, I’m feeling SO very … [Read more...] about Rewind.

I've recently had an influx of emails requesting some of my apple themed documents I promised to share when I posted about our week of apple fun last year. Sorry for the delay! Apples, Apples, Everywhere!
My kids this year are SO very much into non-fiction stories. I LOVE IT!!! We started our week of apples with a KWL. I set out this little KWL and fill it out with the kids as we go along… After reading a few short non-fiction books about apples, we filled out the “What You LEARNED” apple and had the kids complete their own KWL to keep in their Reader’s Response Journals. They LOVED this activity! I told them to choose 1 thing from each apple to write down.KWL Printable: APPLE KWL And we labeled the parts of an apple… I also had the kids fill out their own version. I found it on Mrs. Nelson’s Apple Unit Page. We also start out the week … [Read more...] about Apples, Apples, Everywhere!
