Love, Splat. Black History Month. And a Giveaway

Hey sweet friends!  Happy Saturday!  Okay, so maybe notsomuch on the *happy* for me.  The screen on my laptop decided to die, so I spent the morning taking her to get fixed only to learn that she needs to be sent off to be repaired!  Shoo!  I’m taking this as God’s way of telling me to take a break from the computer, so my blogging and commenting will be very minimal the next few weeks. In the meantime, I’m trying to figure out a way to upload several new units I’ve been working on…just a few little goodies for February. 
My newest little mini unit…Love, Splat…was just added to my TpT shop in the nick of time!  HA!  Here’s a little preview:

    I love that we have another holiday to celebrate after the doldrum month of January! I love to decorate for Valentine's and see all of the new goodies Target puts out.     There is so much to love about February! We have Winter Fun Day at my school which is so much fun for the kiddos! It doesn't look like we will be sledding this year. On the 13th we will be celebrating the 100th day and then the following week is February break! I'm so excited about February!

    I love Splat the Cat! I can't wait to buy your unit. I love February because it is a short month and there are lots of fun things to teach like Valentine's day and black history. Too much for a short month! Also, pretty much everyone in my family has a birthday in February, except for me. Lots of birthday shopping is in store! Have a great weekend!     What a wonderful blog you have! Love it! I am a teacher too but spend most of my time blogging about cards that I make! It is funny you should ask what I love about February because yesterday after work I spent about 4 hours prepping ideas for February and I was so excited. I love that kindness will be a theme for us and that this month I will focus on how we are similar and different from our classmates, and that is ok to be different! I love the sunshine that is starting to come on more and more too…it just makes us all happy in the classroom. Thank you for the chance to win.

    I love February because we get to do fun activities involving a fun holiday. January is super low key when it comes to celebrating holidays. After all of the December celebrations and exciting units, January is kind of blah. Ha. Thanks for offering this fantastic deal!     There are so many fun things in February that make teaching fun- Groundhog's Day, 100th day, Valentine's Day and President's Day. Throw in a winter break and you have a month that's perfect (well, except that it's too cold here in New England!)

    I love Valentine's Day!! In my classroom we call February LOVE month!! I have each student bring in a picture of someone special they want to do nice things for all month! We write about why we love them and what we will do for them during love month!!! Last year one of my students picked me. She was so sweet, leaving me notes and pictures all month long!!

    My favorite part of February is our missions parade! I teach at a Christian School, and we have a big parade to celebrate the missionaries for our missions conference at our church. I'm super excited this year, because my 2nd graders have raised over $3,700 to give to them!! They have worked hard!

    This is my 1st offical post to a blog – I have just been blog stalking until now! My favortive part of February is that 1st graders can still write "Love" on a valentine to any boy or girl in the class and mean just that. No boyfriend/girlfriend, etc. Just palin old LOVE!

    My absolute favorite thing about February is Valentine's Day. My daughter, Annabelle (7), insists on homemaking her valentines. We've been doing it since she was two. No boxed things for this girl…WHICH. I. LOVE!!! We always have the best time trying to come up with something better and more creative than the previous year. We usually start on them in mid-January because we always have so many to make between school friends, 2 dance classes, and church friends. Lots of girl time. Though, both of my boys this year, 5 and 3, requested to make homemade cards. Of course, that might change if they see the boxed cards. I spotted some Lego puzzle cards that I'm pretty sure would rock their world! LOL!

    I love celebrating the 100 th day of school and Valentines Day with my kindergarten class. We do a writing project about our friends and I love displaying the writing with tissue paper hearts on our bulletin board.

    What I love most about February? Our midyear assessments are DONE and I feel like I can finally have a month on uninterrupted teaching! Plus, we'll usually have a snow day in there 🙂

    My favorite thing about the month of February is giving myself a pat on the back for all of the New Year's Resolutions that I have actually kept! (and hopefully will continue) For the resolutions I haven't kept…well I will try again! I also really enjoy seeing the progress that my first graders have made so far! I always say that February is the month in which they start developing into future second graders!

    WOW! 4,000 followers! So sorry about your laptop! I love February for all of the holidays, the fact that it could snow, but most of all, I love February b/c my whole family celebrates the day my family adopted my little brother from Korea. He is here now for over 30+ years, but each year we still celebrate the day he became "ours"! He & my other brother were & still are one of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave me! I still get choked up thinking about going to the airport & seeing him come off the plane…

    Congratulations on reaching 4000! I grew up in Minnesota and never liked the month of February because we rarely saw the sun and by February I was so over the snow. Now I live in Arizona and LOVE February for the SUNSHINE and awesome weather. Oh, and the chocolate is great too. 🙂

    I love February because there are so many holidays to teach about. Also, there are still opportunites for snow days! Best of all, since Valentine's day falls in February, my husband and I spend a weekend out of town. It is the only time we get away without our daughter. It's pretty much the only time of the year that we relax!

    When I worked in an urban school with all black students I loved the Black History program we did and especially the book Charlie Parker Played BeBop that the kids read chorally.     What I love most about February is when we read any books in school that talk about love, my 2nd graders get soooo disgusted!     wow, there's so much to love about february! one of my babies has a birthday coming up (this year he's turning the big 5.0 and couldn't be more excited!) i love me some valentine's day in a first grade classroom… celebrating the friendships we've made makes the heart happy. black history month… always amazed at how much progress our country has made and grateful for the reminder that we are not a perfect people and there is still room for a lot more growth! groundhogs day is always fun for the kiddies, but kinda depressing for me (the thought of 6 more weeks of winter… no thank you!) and thanks to a couple of famous presidents, we've got some monday holidays in february… 3 cheers for a 4 day work week! i think that about sums up my love of february. can't wait to go check out love, splat now. but i won't buy it just yet, ya know, just in case 😉

    I know you may want something education-related, but I wanted to respond from the heart, too.

    I love February because it is my husband's Alive Day. He was critically wounded in Iraq on February 18th (2 days before he was to come home) so we celebrate this special day every year (not because he was blown up, but because he was spared and made it home to us). I look forward to February just for this reason.

    On a professional level, I love February with the kids because of all the awesome things to celebrate and learn about! We have Groundhog Day, 100th Day of School, Valentine's Day, Black History Month, Presidents Day, Dental Week, and so many more! Learning is fun anyway, but it is so exciting to share and teach about so many "celebrations".

My grandmother was born on February 10th, my mother was born on February 28 and finally my daughter (my little lady) was born February 9th. During this month I thank God for blessing me with wonderful God filled women who help to brighten my path.

    I love Feb because of Valentine's day! I love it in my class- at the school- but especially at home!
    Memory- my dad never bought us Christmas or birthday gifts- mom got them and told him about them- he was just as surprised as we were- but on Valentine's Day we got a card, a rose, and little box of chocolates that he went to the store and picked out on his own- this is probably my reason for loving it so much!

    I love February bc I get to read one of my favorite Valentine's day books…Heartprints by PK Hallinan. I have each students' name written on a paper heart and then after we read the book, each student has to say one thing nice about the student on the heart. I write all of these things down as they are said. We do this for each student in the room. Then I laminate all the hearts and hang them in the hall!!

    I love February because that is the month my oldest daughter was born. I also love decorating my classroom in my two favorite colors, pink and red. It's always fun to watch the kiddos exchange Valentine's Day cards.

    I love all of the fun holidays we celebrate in Februrary– which leads to lots of craftivities. The planning of it all can sometimes seem overwhelming, but the kids always love it. I guess that makes it all worthwhile.

    My favorite thing about February would have to be my baby girl! She will turn 11 on the 10th and I can remember praying for a little baby to make me a mommy. It took a while to get pregnant and I thank God each day for blessing us with the best daughter ever! and then a son too-lucky us! I love being a teacher but even better a mommy.     What an amazing giveaway – congrats on 4,000 followers! My favorite thing about February is that all of the teaching/learning starts to come together in both Kindergarten and First Grade and students really start to understand reading, writing, etc. and make connections as they become better readers and writers.     I am a new first grade teacher, I switched careers from pediatric oncology nursing for 20 years to education (seeing kids thrive is soooo much better). This is my first year teaching and I love it! I must say that your lessons have made my life so much easier and I thank you so much! I have five children of my own so being able to have great lesson to bring to school and still spending quality time with my children at home is so important. That said, I love February because I know it's going to start getting warmer soon (I'm In Mass) and best of all we get to celebrate love and friendship with our classroom family!

    Ahhh February. One of the things I love most about February is how smart my little first graders feel. It always seems that at the beginning of February they start to put all the learning they have done together and it clicks! WOO HOO FINALLY! Just to see the joy in their faces when they realized they can do it. It awesome. And of course there is also the enjoyment my little kiddos get from handing out their valentines to each other. My dad also comes in on this special day and brings several items from his personal Black History collection (including books, sculptures, musical instruments, African art, and photographs)to do a small presentation for them as well.     I love February because the days start to get longer…I love the extra sunlight but still having snow on the ground. I also love driving to and from work in the light instead of the pitch black and in February I am able to do just that!

    I love February for many reasons. This year, I am student teaching in a second grade classroom! I am excited to celebrate Black History Month with my students by discussing the lives of many influential leaders and heroes with them! But I am also excited to celebrate valentines day for the first time as a teacher with my students! I cannot wait to see their giddy excitement when they bring in valentines for each member of our class!!

    I love February because we usually have the 100th day of school the first week of February, and I LOVE Valentine's day. My husband is very romantic so hemakes it a very special day for me. AND I get lots of chocolates from my sweet first graders and lots and lots of hugs!!

    The month of February represents love. It reminds me to take the time to notice and appreciate the small things about one another. To love those small little hand prints on the oven becuase someday they will be gone. To love my spouse when he scrapes the frost off my car even when he is running late. To love my students when I'm one cup short and they are two bowls of cocoa krispies full, and they help me to see the world different! I love February because these small moments will be lasting memories!

    My favorite thing about February is celebrating Valentine's Day at school because the kids send lollipops to each other with sweet notes attached and there is just so much love in the air!

    I love Groundhog Day because I love being hopeful for Spring! The kids get so excited about whether the groundhog saw his shadow or not.

    I teach in a year round school so I also love February because it means I am only a month away from 3 weeks off!

    Well why wouldn't I love February!? I feel like the kids and I are finally back to our routine plus I always feel like they come back from Christmas break more ready to learn than ever!     I love teaching about the Presidents! I did a big unit on Presidents in my student teaching days and I continue to do some of the activities in my classroom now! Plus, it gives me a reason so make mini-cherry cheesecakes for my kiddos (for George Washington chopping down the cherry tree!).

    I love February because it is full of classroom fun. We have valentines day, groundhog day, 100th day, presidents day, and black history month. It is the best month to be a teacher because there are so many creative ways to teach my first graders.

    I love February because Valentine's Day in first grade is so much fun. I love listening to the nice words that they all share with one another. Also love love love the 100th day. February in NH is cold, and usually snowy, best time for snow men, sledding and ice skating!
