Earth Day has always been one of my favorite events to celebrate with my school babies. There's just something about it. I love the sense of camaraderie we gain through our teamwork as we clean up trash around the school grounds, pay more attention to our recycling efforts, and love our Earth just a little more than we already do. As usual, this time of the year seems to speed by quickly and these events sort of pop up without giving us much time to plan or prep. It’s Saturday and I couldn’t be happier that I have absolutely NOTHING planned. Those are the best kind of weekends, aren’t they?! I *might* venture off for a pedicure because my feet are a little scary right now. BUT…other than the mid-day pampering, I have a whole bunch of nothing planned and I LOVE IT!!!! Guess where I was yesterday?! Spending the day with THE Kim Sutton!!!! If y’all have never had a chance to see her in person, I *highly* recommend attending one of her workshops at some point in your life! She is AMAZING! I had so many A-HA! moments yesterday!! That woman is BRILLIANT when it comes to teaching math! What’s the Buzz?
SO. I know I’m not the only one. Who else has their countdown on? 38 days for us. Not that I’m keeping track. But yes…38 days. I can smell summer in the air. Happy Earth Day!
Happy Earth Day, sweet friends! Have y’all been out planting trees today, or what?! Well…I haven’t, but I did enjoy an afternoon listening to beach-y music outside on the deck. What a perfect day to celebrate our beautiful Earth! Speaking of celebrations, we celebrated Earth Day as a class on Friday. Oviparous Animals, Earth Day, & a Diphthong
As much as I can’t stand those slimy little suckers, we’ve been learning about frogs the last few weeks. Amphibians {and reptiles} to be exact. Let me start by saying that our sweet little frog, Hopper, is officially DEAD. I found him belly up…on the bottom of the tank….this morning. YIKES. Apparently, my green thumb, or lack thereof, extends to aquatic animals as well as plants. Anyhoo…since reptiles & amphibians hatch from eggs, we’ve also been learning a little bit about oviparous animals. The kids LOVE that word…oviparous!
