Okay. I was recently re-introduced to a childhood favorite while skimming through Netflix trying to find a movie for my boys. Do any of y’all remember this show??? Don’t judge. I grew up with two younger brothers and one TV in our household. I grew to love it. But it wasn’t until a few days ago that I realized just how awful it was. And now I can’t get the theme song out of my head. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with my post, except to tell you that I’m singing “Do the Digraph” to the tune of the theme song, “Do the Mario”. Addicting people. Awful and addicting. You can thank me for ... Read More
There’s SNOW Time Like Winter!
Just stopping in for a quick minute tonight to share a few things that have been keeping us busy this week. Write the Room has been keeping us up on our feet and moving around. This is my kids’ absolute FAVORITE activity so it’s no surprise that I have to change these out quite frequently. These last couple of days my kids have been identifying word families and writing CVC words {from my January Write the Room packet}. In our sight word center, the kids have been digging through the snow to find words. Once they find a word they know, they count out the number of letters in the word and use the ... Read More
And We’re Off…
Am I the only one that stresses thismuch about the regression of my kids after a long break?! I do this even after 3-day weekends. It's a sickness. I worry they'll forget absolutely everything I've taught them and they'll come back from break starting over at square one. Thankfully, that was not the case today {insert dramatic sigh of relief here}. In fact, I'm excited to say a lot of my babies progressed these last two weeks!! {Doesn't it always seem like a little light bulb goes off after winter break??!? Why do I worry?!??} I did running records on all of my kids today and ohmiword. Completely and ... Read More
Break Over & Staying Organized
Teachers are a crazy bunch, aren't we?! We get two weeks off for the holidays and still want MORE time off!! HA! I know I'm not the only one wishing for another week?!?! Am I ?!?! I still haven't taken down the Christmas decor...done ANY laundry...gone grocery shopping for the week...cleaned {dear Lord it's bad}...planned for the upcoming week...or anything of importance. My break was used for just that...a BREAK!!!! As usual, I've saved everything for the very last minute because procrastination is what I do best. Now it's time to get back to the proverbial grind. I'm excited to see my ... Read More
A Resolution and Some Crafting/Creating Inspiration {Chalk Style}
HAPPY 2014!!!! I spent this year’s NYE surrounded by my family. The absolute BEST way to start a brand new year. My boys were SO excited to stay up ‘til midnight. Only one made it and he said it was the BEST party ever. Bless. They even got to drink their Kool Aid from the "fancy" plastic flutes ;) My mom & my sister. I love. I spent the better part of New Year Day {ummm…night} cleaning up puke. My littlest decided to get the same bug I had and OHMIWORD. It was a war zone in here last night. AW.FUL. I’m pretty sure I did about 3 loads of laundry between ... Read More
HAPPY NYE!
How will you be celebrating?! Staying up ‘til midnight just to see the ball drop, sneak in a kiss, and then head to bed? A night out on the town? Or are you all, “WHO CARES?!?!?!” and going to bed early?!!?? This will be the first year since the boys were itty bitty that we’ll actually be welcoming 2014 in the comfort of our own home. Yay!! My siblings will be driving out to celebrate with us, so this year we’ll be ringing in the new year with family…there’s just NO better way to celebrate a holiday!!! Making it to midnight will be a miracle, so we’ll see how that goes. I came down with a little bug a couple of ... Read More
A Little Christmas Recap
The Christmas season is always so fast and furious. We spend days/weeks {months, for those of you who don’t procrastinate} preparing and then it’s over just like that. Kind of sad. So in protest, I’m keeping my decorations up for a bit longer. Okay, so it’s more laziness than it is protest, but you get what I’m sayin’. The weeks preceding the holiday break at school are always a blur. It seems like I never have enough time to fit it all in…or share what we do…so things all get lumped into a little recap. Without further ado, here’s how the weeks prior to Christmas break played out in Room 206. We ... Read More

Christmas Spirit
I haven’t been much for blogging this month. But I swear I have a good excuse. I spent the first week of December putting the finishing touches on my presentations for the North Carolina Kindergarten Conference. I had 4 in one day and I may or may not have underestimated the amount of work it would take to prep and pack. Let’s just say that I definitely put the PRO in procrastinate. On top of that, I had to get sub plans ready for two full days. I’d SO much rather be at school than EVER have to take a personal day…there’s just way too much work involved for that! I know you feel me. I’ve never really ... Read More
ELFis Is In The Building
My kids were over the moon excited today. We had a special delivery straight from the North Pole… I read the letter to the kids and they flipped. I mean, they seriously had a conniption. They could barely stifle their screams. We somehow managed to get through the letter without anyone going too crazy, but when it came time for me to open Santa’s special delivery, we just couldn’t contain ourselves anymore. It got a little wild. But it was precious because their little hearts are SO innocent and they just couldn’t hold in their excitement at all. I just LOVE the magic of Christmas!!!! As ... Read More
