I have to say that I've been blessed with two kids who LOVE to learn. Trust me when I say that I know this isn't always the case so I am very grateful that {at this moment in time} they love it. My wish is NOT for them to be at the top of their class{es}, read the best, or anything like that, rather I want them to LOVE school and LOVE to learn. And so far, thankyouJesus, they do. As you can imagine with two little boys who love to learn, we haven't been sitting idly at home doing a whole lotta nothing. Yes...there are MORE video game moments than I can count....the pool has been their second home....and our ... Read More
The Last 22 Days {In Pictures}
I've been spending the last couple of days recuperating. It's been a loooooooong month. In the best way possible. Around the end of June, we drove 19ish hours to Indiana and stayed a few days with our family. A few days after we got there, I drove a couple of hours to meet up with some of my favorite friends for our annual (6 hour) lunch. (left to right... Amanda from One Extra Degree, Michelle from Fabulous in First, and Abby and Faith from The Inspired Apple} A few days after that, we all hopped back in the Kia and headed north to Michigan...another 3ish hours...and stayed a few days ... If You’re Going to Read Something, Read THIS! {Crash Course}
If I'm being totally honest, I'm not much of a reader. I mean, I LOVE to read. I do. But I don't have time to read very often. I'd call myself more of a skimmer. When summer rolls around, all bets are off. I literally pore over books like it's nobody's business and try to fit a year's worth of reading into 2 months. Especially on our road trips. When you're sitting in a car for 13+ hours, you need a little something constructive to occupy your time :) All that to be said, I did read ONE book during the school year. One of the BEST books I've ever read. And I'm not just saying that. ... Read More

That's just about 12 days away from a month. Y'all. That's a LOOOOOONG time...in case you weren't already aware :) I'm DYING to tell you all about my adventures in Vegas, but I'm not home just yet. In the meantime, I'm joining my sweet friends over at Blog Hoppin' to bring you a little Christmas in July. I mean, Hobby Lobby has already started decorating their aisles, so we might as well celebrate in ... Read More

Ready, Aim, FIRE!
I don't know if I told y'all this already, but we're currently visiting family in Indiana. It's shaping up to be quite the whirlwind trip. We always drive. Every year. And I love it. I do. I LOVE road trips. SO much to see! And y'all...'Merica is beautiful. Anyway, our road trip driving up lasts 2 days. It's a total of 18-19 hours for us to get here and we have to break it up into two days because, well, that's just a long time to be in the car...especially for my VERY busy little boys. We'll be here for a few more days before heading to Michigan. While we're here in Indiana, ... Read More
I Notebook…Do You?
Do you notebook?? {Is it okay that I just made that a verb??} Well...all that to be said, I DO. I notebook. There. I said it. I notebook and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! I started out small this past year. Dabbled in it, if you will. I used Deanna's Interactive Reading Journals and they worked out beautifully. I got my feet wet and I LOVED it. I wanted to incorporate more interactive notebooking because I saw how much my kids LOVED it...and how engaged they were...and how they seemed to retain SO much more and make SO many connections while learning. Not gonna lie...it was awesome. ... Read More
Starting With the End in Mind – End of Year Portfolios
Starting with the end in mind. That pretty much sums up my approach to teaching. When you know where you need to go, you plan your journey to make sure you end up at that destination. I guess I take that same approach with everything though. End of year portfolios included :) If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me post a little teaser pic of my EOY portfolios. Several of y'all asked that I blog about what's included, so here we go! Here's what my portfolios look like when I send them home with the kids. These portfolios aren't to be confused with the ongoing portfolios that follow ... Read More
Hiatus. Oh, and Happy Summer!
Every now and then, I think it's important to take a break from blogging. In my case, LOTS of breaks :) And in the famous words of Ferris Bueller.... SO true, Ferris. So true. And it was just the break I needed to recharge. From a LONG year. A year full of more surprises than I thought were possible. Good surprises. Unexpected changes. Let me just tell y'all this...God is SO good. All.the.time. The day after the school year ended, Mr. Spouse and I dropped the kids off at mom & dad's and headed to the Bahamas to spend a week in paradise. We're ... Read More
Ice Cream, Graduation, & Summer’s Almost Here!
Right after end of year testing, we gear up for graduation. Seeing their sweet little faces topped with graduation caps is almost too much. Especially when it's your own child. This happened today.... He graduated from Kindergarten. I cried. A lot. I love that kid. And to think about everything he's accomplished this year academically, socially, emotionally...well, darn. It makes me one proud and overwhelmed momma! We were blessed with such a GREAT year...for both my boys. But the year's not over yet. 8 more days. But who's counting?!?!? Speaking of graduation, ...
