“ I saw what was coming, but I did not see what it would mean“. – In Five Years
Okay, Rebecca Serle. You have my attention. In Five Years might be one of my favorite books yet. Simply beautiful in every way I never expected. While I’m sure I’m probably the last one to pick up a copy of this book, I’d be remiss not to tell you how much I loved it…because I did. My eyes are still red and the pages of the last chapter or two, tear-stained.
Dannie is a corporate lawyer who plans out every detail of her life and has her future all mapped out. Everything she knows is upended one night when she falls asleep and seemingly wakes up five years in her future to “live” out a brief glimpse that look nothing like the life she’s anticipated for herself.
This was such a quick and easy read. Definitely one you could barrel through in a day.I personally love the way the story unfolded and ultimately wrapped up, albeit completely unexpected. I thought I knew what it all meant until I didn’t.
I’d classify this one as a book about friendship moreso than love, but love is definitely at the heart of this story in many different forms. To say I cried a lot would be an understatement. I wish I could go back and read it again for the first time.
5 out of 5 enthusiastic stars…most definitely on my top 10 list! Such a great read!
