If you’re anything like me, you might have a soft spot in your heart for the sentimental. Something about the holiday season really pushes those feelings into overdrive (for me, anyway). I think this is why Christmas cards are my favorite.
I love running to my mailbox in December. I anxiously tear open each and every card and swoon over the beautiful faces and sweet handwritten sentiments hiding of each envelope. And because I’m so sentimental, I absolutely can’t part with ANY of those Christmas cards at the end of the season.
It kills me to think that my friends and family spend so much time curating the perfect card only to have them tossed after a few weeks. In most cases, those cards are typically of the family photo variety. (And if you’re married, you KNOW how challenging it is to get your significant other to participate in any kind of organized photo session. Oh, THE PAIN!!!!).
Throwing them away seems like such a waste, so I keep them. ALL of them. And it makes me smile SO much to take them out every December and look through them all. Comparing how much families have grown through the years…how big the kids have gotten…how long our friendships have lasted.
I created these printable Christmas card covers to help me organize each year’s collection. I just hole punch a couple of holes in each card & the cover and then place them on a binder ring organized by year. I also jazzed mine up with a some red & green markers to make them a little more colorful and, because I’m also a little extra, I tied some seasonal ribbon to the binder rings for an added touch of fun.
We keep ours in a basket next to our little trees and look at them over and over all season long. We love putting them out on the coffee table when we entertain and our guests love looking through them to see how they’ve changed through the years :). Memories can be so much fun.
You can download your printable Christmas card covers HERE. Years 2007 – 2040 are included in this download. Two additional cards on the last page of this download don’t include a year…we all have those random cards from who knows when, so these covers would be perfect to organize those! I would’ve included more, but I got tired of writing, LOL. All you need for this project is a stack of Kraft paper (or any kind of paper, really), a hole punch, some binder rings, and your Christmas cards. The ribbon and washi tape are extra 😉 You can dress these up or keep them as simple as you want. I hope these help you organize this holiday season and beyond!
