Another emotional rollercoaster kind of read by TJR I just couldn’t put down. One True Loves touched all the right places for me and I’m convinced Ms. Reid can do no wrong.
Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse, and the newlywed couple move from the east to west coast to start a new life free from the expectations of their families and friends. Life in California is full of adventure and spontaneity for Jesse and Emma until their one year wedding anniversary. Jesse is presumed dead after a tragic helicopter crash over the Pacific. Emma moves back to her hometown to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart and learn how to navigate her “new” life as a widow.
While back in her hometown, Emma runs into Sam, an old family friend. The two old friends start to date and Emma decides to give love a second chance. Not long after they’re engaged, Emma gets an unexpected phone call that throws her world into a tailspin. Jesse is alive and he wants her back. Now Emma is tasked with the unimaginable choice of going back to her past or moving on with her future. Either way, someone is going to get hurt.
One True Loves is a story about love, loss, and impossible decisions. I applaud TJR for having the ability to convey these circumstances in such a way that made me empathize with Emma’s dilemma as well as Jesse and Sam’s feelings. She has an incredible way of making the reader feel like they’re experiencing everything right alongside the characters. Everything was developed so incredibly well!
As I said earlier, this one was an emotional rollercoaster. I thought I knew how I wanted it to end until I didn’t. And I couldn’t stop reading until I knew how it all played out. While it might not have ended the way I expected, I thought it was so beautifully done. It couldn’t have wrapped up any other way. Touching. Poignant. Impossibly beautiful. Pass me my next TJR book because I truly can’t get enough!
4.8 out of 5 stars for me!
