If Nora Goes Off Script, by Annabel Monaghan isn’t the perfect “beach read“, I don’t know what is! Okay, so I didn’t read this on a beach, but I did read it in the mountains. On a balcony. In the rain. In ONE sitting. I could NOT put this down! Compulsively delicious…I only wish it were 500 pages longer! I couldn’t get enough!
Nora is a screenwriter who’s latest screenplay (based on her recent marriage/divorce/narcissistic ex-husband) gets picked up for the big screen. Shoot location?! Her house. The actor set to play her ex-husband is Leo, former Sexiest Man Alive. After filming wraps, Leo offers Nora $7,000 if she’ll let him stay at her house for a week. A lot can happen in seven days.
Oh, how I loved EVERYTHING about this story. Nora and her two kids, her friends, Leo…I loved the way the author wrote these characters!!! Sure, there were parts that were absolutely unrealistic, but who cares?! It all worked perfectly! It was such an entertaining read with all the elements I love in a predictable rom com…witty banter, vulnerable dialogue, misunderstandings, drama, cheesiness, spice…so, so, good! It was one of the most unputdownable books of the summer for me.
This book was giving major “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton” vibes and I personally adore that movie. So I’d say that if you loved that flick, you’ll love this book. Light and funny with a lot of heart, Nora Goes Off Script is a winner in every way. Do yourself a favor and pick it up ASAP!
5 out of 5 very enthusiastic stars!!!
