Continuing on with my holiday reading journey, I picked up Lovelight Farms, by B.K. Borison. Truth – I knew nothing about the story going into this one, but loved the cover so had to give it a shot.
Stella has always dreamt of owning a tree farm, so when she has the opportunity to make Lovelight Farms her own, she goes for it…at an extremely heavy price. So much is working against Stella and her farm and her dreams seem as though they’re crashing down around her. When Stella learns about an IG influencer sponsored contest with a prize of $100K, she knows she needs to enter – that prize money is sure to save her dreams! Enter her childhood friend (and longtime crush), Luka, who helps put her plan into motion.
Such a cute book. Full of charm and humor. And a little steamy romance, too. Friends to lovers + fake dating tropes – two of my favorites.
This one reminded me a little of The Simplicity of Cider that I read back in November…kind of similar feel. I personally didn’t love Stella and eye rolled at so much of what she thought/said/did. However, the love story she shared with Luka was really sweet and redeemed any disconnect I had with our heroine.
This was a darling story with small town charm, but you’ll definitely have to suspend all disbelief when you give it a read. This is the first book in a three book series. I don’t know that I enjoyed it enough to read the next two books, but it was an overall entertaining read.
