Happy December

I’m having a sad little case of the Sunday blues.  After being out of school for a week, I sure can’t wait to get back and see my babies, but I’m a little sad I won’t be waking up at 9 in the morning.  I’m not ready for an alarm clock!!!  I spent this past Friday shopping with my momma.  Yes…we braved the Black Friday crowds.  But I swear it wasn’t bad AT.ALL!  This is one of my most favorite traditions.  Just me & mom.  It’s more about spending endless hours talking and laughing…& eating our weight in everything terrible…than it is about anything else.  We could care less if we buy a darn thing!  We just like having an excuse to spend the day together.  That being said, we did find some pretty good deals.  Infact, I was with mom when she did some of her “Santa” shopping for us, so I know a few things on my wishlist that I’ll be opening up on Christmas Day.  Speaking of wishlists, here’s what’s on mine… Slide1 I’m gonna need you to share your wishlists with me now! Slide1Slide1 This is a fun little packet all about one of my FAVORITE holiday books, Mooseltoe!  Includes a fun little craftivity and activities centered around the story!  I created it when I taught 1st grade, but it would work for Kindergarten, too. Slide1 I just uploaded my newest Write the Room packet for December… Slide1 Slide2 And this little printable packet {by request} is **almost** finished! Slide1 And don’t forget about two of my most favorite year-round packets… Slide1 Slide1 Here’s a little post about how I’ve been using my CVC packet in the classroom.  My kids are a *little* obsessed.  I’ve had a lot of people ask me about the game I referenced, “The Monkey in the Middle” and wanted to know if I could make that into a printable activity…and YES…I can!!!  I’ll upload that {free} to the blog in just a couple of days!  Great suggestion!!     I am dreading going back tomorrow too! I love the jewelry on your wishlist. So pretty! I am so bad about coming up with a list of what I want. My mom always fusses at me about it. Anyways, my favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story. I could watch it over and over again. I love the old Rudolph and Frosty movies too. Enjoy the rest of your night!

    Christmas Vacation followed VERY closely by Elf are my most favorite Christmas movies EVER! And I too have a case of the Sunday Night Blues. I can't wait to see my kiddos tomorrow either, but I LOVE being home with my own family… I feel like working Mommas miss out on a lot. Can't be helped, but doesn't change it either.

    Wow! This is a tough one. I am a real Christmas Movie junkie. I have been watching movies since the first of November on the Hallmark Channel. But, I do think if I had to choose one it would have to be National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Part of the reason I choose that one is because my husband laughs all the way through it, which makes it fun for me to watch with him. Thanks for your giveaway and have a wonderful Christmas.

    Miracle on 34th Street. The new one. I love when the little girl looks at her Mom and says…"You're perfectly wrong Mother." I don't know why it's one of my favorite lines. Must be something to do with her cute smile and telling her Mom…you're wrong! HA! I have never done that. ; )

    Hmmm favorite Christmas movie… I'm going to have to go with A Christmas Story. It's a classic, and when I lived at home, it was a tradition to watch it every Christmas Eve. Elf is a very close second favorite, though! SANTA!!! I KNOW HIM!!! hahaha I want to say that every time my lils bring up Santa at school haha I'll have to sneak it in now that it is December (YIKES!). Okay, enough rambling.     These days I have a 3 year old so I've moved on from the Polar Express to the movie: the fight before Christmas. But I'm also loving the little videos Santa sends from the North Pole. Have you see those? Do those count? My son was SHOCKED that santa actually knew. his. name.

    My favorite Christmas movie is "The Santa Clause." My parents took me to see it in theaters when I was little and I can STILL hear my dad CRACKING UP in the movie theater at Tim Allen. Watching that movie at Christmas time became a tradition in our household. 🙂 Just thinking of that memory warms my heart.

    LOVE all of your products and would love to win your holiday packs! I also love your name…I named my daughter Cara after my grandfather "Carol" both were born at Christmas time!

    I am a Christmas movie connoisseur, so here in my top 5 list (in no particular order):
    1. A Christmas Story. It's been a tradition since I was 5. It takes place in Indiana, so that automatically makes it awesome. Both of my kids have gotten Red Riders for Christmas. They have yet to shoot their eyes out.
    2. Christmas Vacation. Again, tradition. I always decorate our main tree while watching it. Yes, I'm serious, Clark.
    3. Elf. I would be a Cotton-Headed Ninny Muggins if this movie wasn't on the list.
    4. Home Alone. Only the first one though. Two-five are abominations.
    5. The Polar Express. It's magical. Our family is obsessed with it. Each year, we go on a weekend getaway to French Lick (a resort town here in Southern Indiana) for a weekend of Christmas activities at the resort and a ride on the "real" Polar Express. My son watched this movie constantly when he was about one. Some of his first words were "I Believe…" I hope he always believes in the magic of Christmas. 🙂

    Choosing just one favorite Christmas movie is like choosing just one pair of shoes: IMPOSSIBLE! That being said, ONE of my favorites is definitely Elf. It cracks me up every year! I also braved Black Friday with my mom and sister….so much fun!

    There are so many! But, my favorite is probably a sweet little cartoon called "The Small One" that I think was made by Disney. It's about the little donkey that carried Mary to Bethlehem. Makes me cry like a baby. Every. Single. Time.

    My favorite movie that I watch religiously is The Family Stone. Diane Keaton, Sara Jessica Parker, and Rachel McAdams are some of my favorite actresses and are terrific in this movie that centers around the importance of family and being there for each other when tragedy strikes. As always, thank you for all of your wonderful ideas. I am sitting here right now going through your blog (as I do each week) writing my lesson plans. 🙂

    It's a Wonderful Life. I've been watching it with my family every year since I can remember. It's my dad's favorite movie. I know it's a little cheesy, but I still tear up every year!!! "No man is a failure who has friends." Awwww.

    It has to be ELF, even though it is a newer movie, I just LOVE it!! I spent Black Friday shopping with my bestie. We shouted when we saw Santa at the op of our lungs in the middle of the mall!     It's so hard to choose, but I'm going to go with "Home for the Holidays." The perfect mix of funny and sentimental. Plus, Holly Hunter and Robert Downy Junior are absolute gold throughout! Mom and I used to have a tradition of watching it together every Christmas Eve. It will be hard to watch it without her this year, but I know she'll be giggling from above! 🙂

    HI Cara! I'm not sure if you'll even reach my little comment, but if you do, my favorite movie would have to be A Christmas Story. The reason being is because I could so relate to cute little Ralphie in the movie. Growing up in school I would get bullied sometimes and it would be so hard to go to school sometimes. I really smile every time when Ralphie gets fed up with his bully and he just starts hitting him and hitting him and his mother comes to the rescue. 🙂 Keep being inspiring.

    My first thought was Love Actually. For sure. But then I remembered Elf. And my husband and I used to watch A Muppet Christmas Carol together all the time before kids. But I still go back to Love Actually. Hugh Grant and Colin Firth…What's not to like?

    My favorite movie is How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Oh Really?! Yes. I'm from Brazil and Grinch and Dr. Seuss aren't famous at all! I watched when I was younger and loved, loved, loved it! So when I introduced it to my kids, they just go crazy!! I love everything about Dr. Seuss and most of the teacher here in Brazil don't even know who he is. Sad right?

    I LOVE watching the Grinch with my kindergarten class every year! We center our week's activities around this Dr. Seuss classic and end our week by watching the movie! The kids and I drink hot chocolate with peppermint sticks while watching in our pajamas and favorite blankets from home! 🙂

    There are soooooo many good ones! And they keep making more! Not enough time to watch them all AND get everything done on the 'to do' list. I do LOVE The Polar Express! So sweet and magical….everything I love about Christmas with kiddos. 🙂

    What a difficult question to answer! I'd probably have to go with Elf. I cannot believe it has already been out for TEN years!! I would LOVE to win your darling holiday activities!
