In any given (school) day, my kids probably hear my say, “You’re knockin’ my socks off!” no less than 25+ times :) I usually say this when somebody has a bright idea that really blows me away, but more often you’re likely to hear me utter this phrase when I see kids that are on task and working responsibly. At the beginning of the year, it can be challenging to get Kindergarteners to realize they can do *hard* things, so lots of praise and positive reinforcement are a must…for me, anyway. To keep my kids on track and encouraged to do their best, I decided I needed a visual to go with my whole, “You’re knockin’ my socks ... Read More
Say My Name & Some Math Fun
Happy Tuesday! It was a WHRLWIND weekend here for my little family. Remember my precious *little* sister?!?! Well…she tied the knot on Saturday and it was AMAZING!!! But seriously….talk about NO sleep! Isn’t she lovely?! And look at my cute lil’ momma! I love these ladies!! And look at my sweet boys! Cutest little “banner bearers” I ever did see!!! I was the matron of honor and I *sang* my speech. People…I DO NOT sing. Not even a little. In Abby’s words, I’m *12 kinds* of tone def!!! But I had to make it memorable. I love my sister and wanted to shock the ... Read More
Is that a B?? Or a D???
I swear I must get this question no less than 50 times a day. I got it that much when I taught first grade and it was occasionally asked in 2nd grade, too. I do realize that reversals are common, but ANYTHING I can do to help my kids discriminate between the two, I’ll try!!! I usually always have this visual posted in all of my stations and various areas around the classroom just for a reminder. click on the picture to download All the girls I taught with the first few years of Kindergarten used this visual…I’m pretty sure it came from The Mailbox Magazine. Well, I remember one of the girls on my team telling ... Read More

A Little Catch Up & A Classroom Tour
I had GREAT intentions of linking up with Blog Hoppin’ last week for Teacher Week, but shame on me…I did no such thing! I think it goes without saying that the beginning of the school year is always a little crazy, but in addition to getting things ready for a new year & attending lots of trainings, I was also planning a wedding shower for my sister. Have I told y’all she’s getting married?!?!? In two weeks?!??! Ohmiword. To say last week was INsane would be the understatement of the year. I had to unpack the rest of the boxes {an entire room full!!!!} and then get busy decorating. The good news ... Read More

A Decorating Tip, A Trip to Target, & A Linky Party
What a BUSY week this has been! I started new teacher inservice on Monday. That was also the first day for my boys to go to “school”. This is the first time they’ve been somewhere structured. We’ve been blessed with the most amazing in-home caregivers since my oldest was just a baby. We continue to feel blessed beyond measure because this little place they’re at now feels so much like home…it’s just AMAZING and the boys LOVE it!!! There are definitely benefits to small town living!! I spent LOTS of late nights up at school the last couple of weeks just trying to get everything sorted and ready for the ... Read More
Back to School Shopping {A Little Sale :)}
I’m still trying to wrap my mind around going back to school on MONDAY!!!! Okay, okay…technically I’ll be *enjoying* new teacher inservice this week :) School doesn’t start ‘til the 27th. But still…tomorrow is the last day of my summer and I’m a little sad. Only because that means I don’t get to sleep in every day ‘til 9. Have I mentioned how much I love Mr. Spouse?!?!? Because I do. He let me sleep in every.single.morning this summer and never complained once. He’s also an early bird and loves drinking his coffee & watching the news in complete silence, but I digress. I’m joining some of ... Read More

It’s In The Bag! {The One Where I Talk About How Much I Love My Cameo}
I got a Silhouette Cameo back in June. It’s been in the box since, oh, ummmmm…last night. I’ve finally started to make some headway in my classroom and I had some ideas for some décor I wanted to add to the mix. Enter the Cameo….aka: teacher’s best friend. I knew it would help me make my *vision* a reality. Ohmiword. I absolutely LOVE that thing! I’m SO sad I haven’t played with it sooner! Now I’m a project makin’ fool! Even though my house is currently covered in scrapbook paper, ribbon, and hot glue, I couldn’t be happier. I *LOVE* the way this turned out! My plan is to set ... Read More
