It’s back to school season…my FAVORITE time of the year! While it’s an exciting time for our kids, I know our teachers are just as excited, too. As a parent, I love to start the school year with a few teacher appreciation gifts. And while I might not “know” my child’s teacher(s), I truly appreciate them. I appreciate the time they’ve spent all summer readying their classrooms to pour into their students. I appreciate the time they’ve spent away from their own families to prep for their new classroom family. I appreciate everything they WILL DO for my child…and every other child…throughout the year. I appreciate everything about them!!!
This year I let my boys choose what they wanted to gift their teachers on Meet the Teacher night. We usually like to gift them a little something just to let them know how excited we are to have them. These teachers become part of our family and there’s no better way to welcome them into the fold than with a little treat. This year the boys chose Kit Kats as their “something sweet”. This is, coincidentally, my favorite as well 🙂 So you can bet I grabbed an extra for myself 🙂 I printed out these gift tags, had the boys sign, and then adhered them to the Kit Kat bars with washi tape. Easy peasy. The gift of chocolate just keeps on giving, doesn’t it?! 😉
As a mom, I think it’s really important to model for my kids what it looks like to show appreciation for others. It doesn’t always have to be done with grand gestures and elaborate gifts. Showing appreciation can be simple. Verbal gratitude, hand-written thank you’s, etc. I want my boys to participate in showing kindness to those around them, so this year we stocked the teacher’s lounge the day before the school year started.
My boy’s teachers aren’t the only people I appreciate. I’m thankful for everyone on the campus. Every adult who will touch my kids in one way or another. So I wanted to thank them all for everything they do and stocking the lounge was the perfect way to do that. AND, my boys got to help! Win, win!!!
We headed up to school loaded with sodas, water, and little snacks. You know how busy the first week of school can be. Teachers are busy running around from place to place and have an overwhelming list of to-do’s. We wanted to treat them to little pick-me-ups they could enjoy throughout the week.
If you’re interested in doing something like this for the teachers and staff in your building, you can grab these printables (FREE) below.
For the snacks, we brought in bags of popcorn, an assortment of chips, granola bars, bags of cookies, cheez-its, goldfish, peanut butter crackers, and a variety of chocolate candy bars (snack size). Then we sorted them out, placed them in little buckets, and then attached these printable signs to match.
We also stocked the fridge with water bottles, Dr. Pepper, Coke, Diet Coke, pink lemonade, sweet tea, and Fanta. Then we taped a little “fridge is stocked” sign to let them know there were a few treats available for them in the fridge, too.
Those are just a few simple ways we like to show our appreciation to the sweet people who get to spend more time with my kids than me!!! They deserve it all…and SO much more!!! I hope you can use these little printables to treat your teachers or co-workers at some point in the year!!!
One last thing before I go. I had a few people on IG ask about these printable back to school picture signs, so I figured I’d upload them here in case anyone else is interested, too! Just print and go!
