What is Simply Social Studies all about?
Simply Social Studies is a Social Studies curriculum that covers grade appropriate concepts and objectives for First Grade. (Kindergarten is also available and can be found HERE).

What objectives are covered in this unit of Simply Social Studies?
Simply Social Studies Unit 5 for First Grade covers the concept of positional words, cardinal directions, maps, map features, & our place in the world. This unit also covers the concept of reading, using, and creating maps. The unit is broken down into twelve lessons including:
RELATIVELY SPEAKING (POSITIONAL WORDS)
COMPASS ROSE
UNDERSTANDING MAPS & GLOBES
INVESTIGATING MAPS
LAND AND WATER
USING A MAP KEY/LEGEND
READING A MAP
