What are sight word prompts?
Sight Word Prompts (Fry Words 1-100) is a reinforcement activity designed to give students repeated exposure to sight words and opportunities to practice identifying their attributes to help promote retention and application.
How will this resource help my students master, retain, and apply their knowledge of sight words?
Prompts were created to help students build more than just a visual image of each word. They were designed to help students really study the word inside and out – synonyms & antonyms, rhyming words, word meaning, vowels, consonants, syllables, letter size. etc. Providing students with the opportunity to become familiar with the attributes of each word will help them to develop a stronger working memory, build connections, and allow them to apply their learning with ease.
How can I implement this resource into my daily instruction? Where can I “fit it all in”?
This activity is perfect for a small group (guided reading/intervention) setting, but would also be great to implement whole group as well (snack time, etc.) The teacher will read aloud the various prompts included in this resource and students will use their prompt cards to identify the sight word that fits the description.
Which sight words are included in this resource?
This resource is comprised of the first hundred words on the Fry List. These words are as follows:
List 1 (1-25): the, of, and, a, to, in, is, you, that, it, he, was, for, on, are, as, with, his, they, I, at, be, this, have, from
List 2 (26-50) or, one, had, by, words, but, not, what, all, were, we, when, your, can, said, there, use, an, each, which, she, do, how, their, if
List 3 (51-75):will, up, other, about, out, many, then, them, these, so, some, her, would, make, like, him, into, time, has, look, two, more, write, go, see
List 4 (76-100): number, no, way, could, people, my, than, first, water, been, called, who, oil, sit, now, find, long, down, day, did, get, come made, may, part
