So…if you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you’ve already seen a couple of “Meet the Teacher” posts {here & here}. You probably have NO desire to read another! But it’s TEACHER WEEK over at Blog Hoppin’ and I’m not one to miss out on a party, so here we go.
But before I get started, I just have to give a HUGE shout out to Tenille over at The Cutest Blog on the Block. She’s the creative genius behind my new blog design! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the makeover!!! She worked wonders with this little ol’ blog and I couldn’t be happier!!! I couldn’t have designed it better if I tried!!! Thank you, Tenille!!!!! It’s perfectly PERFECT!!!!!
Alright….
You already know that I’m a little obsessed with my sweet family.
My two boys…Landon & Grant…will BOTH be in school with me this year. Landon is going to Kindergarten this year {pass me the Kleenex, please} and my sweet baby boy, Grant, is going to Pre-K! Dear Lord, please stop time NOW!
You probably remember that I’m the oldest of four. I LOVE my family like crazy. For real.
And I met my husband at school. Where he proposed a year later. I love this kid like crazy, too.
You might remember that we let God lead us to our current home and relocated down south a year ago. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7 just happens to be my favorite verse. So very, very fitting.
Our search for a “forever home” also landed us on House Hunters last year, too. Talk about a whirlwind of a year!!!
We added a new family member back in January and rescued the absolute SWEETEST dog ever. Meet Lloyd…our 6 –year-old pug. We are in LOVE. Now if he’d only stop marking every little inch of the house, he’d be *perfect*. But we didn’t choose the pug life. Pug life chose us 😉
Speaking of a crazy year, you might remember me talking about moving back down to Kindergarten. I taught K for 7 years then transferred to a new district to teach 2nd. After a year there, I moved down to 1st for 2 years. Now I’m back in K and getting ready to start my 9th year with 5-year-olds! Crazy to think I started my teaching career 12 years ago! Doesn’t seem possible.
You might not know that I gave up ALL soda back in February and haven’t had a sip since. Lemon & mint infused water is my favorite drink of choice with unsweet tea following close behind. That might not seem like a big deal, but it is. I no longer get my *surprise* Route 44 Sonic cokes from Mr. Spouse every Friday and that breaks my heart thismuch.

Oh marking is terrible! I had a foster dog who marked. Have you seen those "doggie diaper" wrap things you can get? They're a wrap that goes around their middle to block them from marking on your floor. You can buy inserts that soak up the urine as well. I had to use those when I had the foster because he was NOT going to mark on the hardwood floors I refinished myself!
I hope you can get it under control soon!
Have a great year in Kindergarten! I loved teaching Kindergarten! First graders are fun too! 🙂

Oh My, I love House Hunters, but I don't have cable (because all I would do would be watch TV, my vice) and love your pics. I didn't include pics, don't know why, of my family, but I have a daughter that I can EAT, I love her so.

Your blog makeover looks so pretty!! I love all the bright, fun colors 🙂 And I saw you on House Hunters!! Maybe I've commented this before… if I have, I'm sorry. But it was shortly after I started following your blog, and we were watching House Hunters, and I was like, hey, I know who she is!
Have fun in K this year! I can't wait until my first year of teaching. You're such an inspiration.

I didn't know you stop drinking soda!! That is the hardest thing ever! I gave it up last year 🙂 I am a big unsweet tea fan as well….and Sonic is sometimes evil, especially in the south when they are EVERYWHERE!!

Love your house, I also want to introduce myself I have been following your blog since early this yr. I love everything you do, and am planning to do everything you do in my first grade class this year! For planning purposes do you have a list of the themes you'll be teaching this yr along with what units you will be teaching? My name is Kim wright and I live in Chicago where I teach first grade:)
We have a pug, too. (our 2nd one actually) A face only a mother could love!

Y'all totally rocked House Hunters. I specifically made my hubby sit down and watch it with me telling him "that's 'THE Cara". Not to mention, you have the most precious family!

Love it. Not sure how I missed the fact that you were on HH. Even cooler!
I also gave up soda this year – it was one of the best choices I have ever made – I feel so much better. I haven't tried mint in lemon water, but I am going to have to try that – it sounds good!
{omgosh…you were on house hunters..awesome..} Your house and family are beautiful! loved this post
I am so excited- I watch all the new episodes of House Hunters- so I had seen this one! I had no idea that was you! I had fun getting to know you a bit more on today's blog! Thanks.
Wow! I love House Hunters, but didn't see this one – I probably would have been like, "OMG, that's C A R A!" LOL I went back to school at the age of 43 to fulfill my life long dream of becoming a teacher. You have a beautiful family, and I am so inspired by you! I also gave up soda this year, and we have our 2nd pug, named Moses. Our first pug, Bernie, passed away at the ripe old age of thirteen. They are the cuddliest, sweetest dogs, but are sooo hard to train! Best of luck, Cara! 🙂

Cara, I've been following you forever. I love how creative and passionate you are about the Lord, your family, and your students. Thanks for sharing! And . . . what on earth . . . you have a food blog?!? When do you sleep, girl?!
Great insight, great article, and thanks for sharing it.

Cara, you know Sonic makes the best UNSWEET tea, right? That is my daily morning stop! Your husband should surprise you with those! 🙂
Cara…you were one of the very first blogs I ever followed. I just think you (and your fam) are so incredibly adorable! Besides that…your ideas are amazing and creative..if only my daughters could have been in your class! Thanks for being such a great inspiration to me….especially this year as it's my first year teaching kindergarten (YIKES)….I've only ever taught 3rd and 4th. I'm terrified (and that's an understatement) but I look forward to reading your blog daily to get my teaching ideas for the week:) Hope you have a great school year!

CARA!! I AM WATCHING YOU ON HOUSE HUNTERS RIGHT NOW!!! It was so weird. I said, "I KNOW her. Well not in real life but I stalk her blog!" My husband thinks I am a freak! lol Your family is precious!
Watching your House Hunters episode now!!! Y'all are too cute!
You just came on my TV! I am always watching House Hunters. How FUN!
yep me too!!!!
Loved seeing your forever home on House Hunters…at midnight! You have a beautiful home and great driveway! It's great to be around family!
Last night as I was getting ready for bed, I had HGTV on and there you were on House Hunters. It was pretty funny to see you especially since I just read about your appearance on HH earlier this week. You have a beautiful home and family!
Totally randomly just caught you on House Hunters too! My husband had it on in the background and when I heard the beginning I shouted something like "I read her blog!" and went on to name your boys and tell him the background (gathered from watching the clip on here!). Then I told him you were where I got the smores cookie dessert and the chicken parm bake and he appreciated my knowledge a whole lto more. 🙂
I can't believe you were on house hunters! So cool!
