******THANKSGIVING MATH CENTERS ****
I like to think of November as a time for my kids to “strut their stuff{ing}!” These hands-on math centers were created to give kids the opportunity to do just that…strut their stuff! NO time to slow down just because Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Keep your kids engaged in meaningful math activities that reinforce important concepts such as….
*Turkey Talk – identifying the GREATEST/LEAST amount
*Shuckin’ Corn – Counting up from a given number, numeral identification
*Cornucopia Counting – subitizing, tens frame {1-10} one-to-one correspondence
*Strut Your Stuffing – Addition to 10, missing addend, using a number line to add
*Aww, Shucks! – Addition, number sentences
*The Missing Slice – determining the missing number, numeral identification
* Tons of Turkeys – one-to-one correspondence {11-20}, numeral identification
*From Pilgrims to Pumpkins – dice game that reinforces one-to-one correspondence, subitizing, & numeral writing {correct formation}
*Seasonal Sequencing/Seasonal Skip Counting – sequencing numbers 1-20, skip counting by 5’s to 50 and/or 100, skip counting by 10’s to 100
*Pilgrim Pickin’s – reading number words {one-10}, numeral recognition & writing
Each activity comes with a recording sheet and additional activity/reinforcement sheets for differentiation.
These activities were created with the Kindergarten class in mind, but could be used for 1st grade intervention/reinforcement/review and would be a good challenge for Pre-K learners.
