I can’t believe we’re staring down the end of another month. I swear the older I get, the faster the days and months fly by. Anybody else?
Last week I sent out a math game to my email club. If you aren’t subscribed, I’d love for you to join us. I promise I won’t inundate you with emails, but it’s definitely the quickest way to get updates and freebies just like the one I’m about to share.
I designed these games to accompany the activities I created to use with the book, Monster Trouble. Monster Trouble is a great read ANY time of the year, but it definitely lends itself to the festivities and themes in October. This game is no exception. Great for any time of the year, but perfect for the spookier season as well.
Here’s how to play: choose the game board that best fits the needs of your students (there are four included…2 focusing on numeral recognition & two focusing on basic addition). Your kids will need a set of googly eyes, a counter, a die, and the My Collection Creation printable (included).
Players will roll a die, move their counter a matching number of spaces on the game board, and either identify the numeral or solve the number sentence (depending on the game board chosen). Players will collect a matching set of googly eyes for each number and/or sum on which they land. They’ll continue rolling, identifying/solving, and collecting eyes until they reach the finish.
Once they’ve made their way around the game board, players will take all the googly eyes collected during the game and use them to create a MONSTROUSLY perfect picture! All of the eyes will be incorporated into any kind of scene/illustration they can imagine. Our kids are LOVING this and playing it on repeat!!!
