At the beginning of every school year, I like to send small gifts in with my boys to gift their teachers. Typically these gifts aren’t expensive nor or they extravagant. Just a simple little token of appreciation to let them know that we’re looking forward to a great school year with them as our teachers. I was at my local Hobby Lobby about a week ago perusing the scrapbook aisles and I found tubes of washi tape on clearance for less than $5!!! I was so excited. I use washi tape in my planners, snail mail, bible journaling, etc. so I bought several different tubes to bring back home. I knew the amount purchased far exceeded what I wanted/needed for myself, so I thought it would be fun to gift the extra to our teachers on “meet the teacher” night.
I found these mini gable boxes at Hobby Lobby in the party section…
I cut a small piece of tissue paper and placed it in the bottom of the boxes and then added the tape. Each teacher got eight rolls. I secured the gift tags on the front of the boxes using a glue stick and washi tape for fun. (Font info: “Washi”ng = AG Stay in Your Lane; ‘you a great year’= AG Talk to the Hand)
I lettered their names on the back of the boxes…
Then secured them with twine. That step was totally unnecessary because these are self-closure boxes, but I thought it was a fun touch and I enjoy being extra.

I have NO idea if their teachers like washi tape. For all I know, they could very well end up in the trash, LOL. However, I still thought it was a fun idea as just a neat way to say, “have a great year!” I also think something like this would be fun to gift your co-workers on the first day or even throughout the year (“washi”ng you happy holidays, spring break, great weekend, etc.)
My most favorite tube of washi tape included all of these emoji rolls…
As I was assembling the gift boxes and staring at all the emoji washi tape, I was inspired to create new teacher questionnaires. Aka: Teacher ‘TEXT’ionnaires! LOL. Again…totally unnecessary, but fun nonetheless and a little different than what we’ve been giving our teachers to fill out the last few years. As Luke Bryan once said, “change is a good thing”. Oh wait. That was rain. But change is a good thing, too 😉
